Starz announced Tuesday that the premiere episode of “Outlander” Season 2 will be available starting this Thursday exclusively to Starz subscribers on the new streaming Starz app and Starz.com, as well as on multiple television on-demand and online platforms.
“Outlander” fans may enjoy the first full episode of the Golden Globe-nominated series two days in advance of its official premiere on April 9 at 9 pm/8c.
The eagerly-awaited second installment of “Outlander” is based on “Dragonfly in Amber,” the second of eight books in Diana Gabaldon‘s international best-selling series. The TV series is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore.
The 13-episode second season of “Outlander” begins as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) arrive in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden.
With the help of his cousin Jared, a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship.
However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it.
Moore, Jim Kohlberg, Andy Harries, Maril Davis, Ira Steven Behr, Toni Graphia and Anne Kenney serve as executive producers of “Outlander.” Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures produce in association with Sony Pictures Television.
The standalone Starz streaming service launched Tuesday. For $8.99 per month, the subscription service allows up to four users to watch simultaneously and provides virtually unlimited downloads.
Starz subscribers from cable, satellite and telco partners can also authenticate and view media in the new app. Users can purchase a subscription or authenticate directly in-app or on their PC/Mac and watch every episode of every season of Starz’s original programming, as well as the network’s film library.
It is available today through the App Store for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV, with the app supporting universal search through the Siri Remote. The new app is also available through the Google Play Store on a wide range of Android supported devices.
