Good news for fans of completely awesome animated comedy: "Archer" will be back for a second season.
FX Monday officially greenlit a second season of the spy-themed workplace comedy from twisted minds Adam Reed and Matt Thompson. The good news is that the episode order has been upped from 10 to 13; the bad news is, FX expects us to wait until 2011 for more episodes.
Not cool, FX. Not cool.
"Archer" has been performing fine in the ratings during its first two months on the air, averaging 1.2 million viewers and 853,000 adults 18-49. By comparison, last fall’s first-year FX comedy "The League" drew 1.3 million viewers and just over 1 million in the key demo.
"The League" has already been renewed and is set to return this summer. "Louie," which along with "Archer" and "League" was greenlit last year, bows in June.
Nick Grad, exec VP of original awesomeness at FX, said "Archer" has "earned a second season.
"We’re very happy with the audience response and critical acclaim for ‘Archer’ and are excited to move forward with it," he added.
Grad then lit a match, causing mass panic at the FX headquarters, which as part of News Corp.’s green initiative, are powered by helium. And we all know how flammable helium is.
