The modern musical “La La Land” led the race for the 89th Academy Awards on Tuesday with a record-tying 14 nominations, including for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.
“All About Eve” and “Titanic” also received 14 nominations, with six and 11 wins, respectively.
Both films won for Best Picture, where “La La Land” is competing with a deep field of nine, including “Manchester by the Sea” and “Moonlight,” which won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama. “La La Land” claimed the trophy for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs and 11 past winners, including Brie Larson, Jennifer Hudson and Jason Reitman, announced the nominees in the 24 categories through videos via a livestream.
The 89th Academy Awards will take place on Feb. 26, with Jimmy Kimmel set to host the annual awards show.
