Oscar, Emmy Chief Don Mischer to Produce Chinese Awards Show

After producing the Huading Awards overseas in October, Mischer hopes to bring the Chinese show to Los Angeles in May

Don Mischer — who has been responsible for several Super Bowl Halftime Shows, the Oscars, the Primetime Emmys and President Obama's 2009 Inaugural Celebration — will take his talents across the sea to produce China's Huading Awards.

A series of vote-based awards shows, launched in 2007 by Beijing media company Global Talents Media Group, the Huadings honor Chinese sports and entertainment A-listers. The show Mischer is producing — scheduled for October in Macau — will honor Chinese celebrities from television, film, dance and music, he told the Wall Street Journal's China Real Time Report

He also is working with Global Talents Media Group to bring the show to Los Angeles next May.

Although he didn't unveil any names, Mischer said he was confident that he'll be able to wrangle a few Hollywood stars to attend both events.

“We will present them with a very convincing argument to come to Macau,” he told the Journal.

“Everyone, movie stars and musical artists, in L.A. that I work with wants to establish a connection with their fans in China,” he said.

Mischer did not yet respond to TheWrap's request for comment on his new gig.
