BBC Worldwide North America and Amazon have inked an exclusive streaming deal for the first season and future seasons of “Orphan Black.”
The first season episodes are available now — only on Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service — ahead of the series’ April 19 second season return.
“‘Orphan Black’ is exactly the type of smart, suspenseful TV show that our customers love to binge on,” Amazon’s Director of digital video content acquisition, Brad Beale, said in a statement.

He continued, “It’s easy to see why Tatiana Maslany was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in ‘Orphan Black.’ We’re excited to offer the first and future seasons exclusively to Prime members at no additional cost, continuing our tradition of offering a wide variety of great content we know our customers will enjoy.”
“Orphan Black” became a very buzzy hit for BBC America, which only received more attention from Maslany’s Golden Globe nomination, the Television Critics Association’s award for Breakthrough Performance and Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress after just one season.
The drama also won TCA’s award for Individual Achievement in drama. BBC America renewed “Orphan Black” for a second season last May.

This deal follows after Amazon and BBC America struck a deal to revive “Ripper Street,” which was canceled in December. It will return for a third season to Amazon.
“Orphan Black” is just the latest series to go to Amazon exclusively in the content war between it and other streaming sites like Hulu and Netflix. Amazon also has the exclusive streaming rights to “Downton Abbey,” “The Americans,” “Under the Dome,” “Betas” and “Veronica Mars,” among many others.
