Open Road Films will distribute select IM Global films under a new first-look deal the two companies announced on Friday.
IM Global produces, finances and sells international rights to a handful of films each year, such as horror hit “Insidious” and action movie “Bullet to the Head.” It is also a distribution company.
Under this new deal, Open Road will distribute a few of IM Global’s movies in the United States, though neither company specified how many.

The two worked together previously on “A Haunted House,” the spoof horror film starring Marlon Wayans that grossed more than $40 million at the box office. They are making a sequel that will open next March.
“Stuart Ford and his partners at Reliance Entertainment have built a formidable business and reputation with great projects under their belt and many more in the pipeline,” Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg said in a statement. “We’ve had success together on ‘A Haunted House’ and are looking forward to more great things in the future.”

Ortenberg, Open Road’s Ben Cotner and Elliott Kleinberg made the deal with IM Global CEO Stuart Ford and EVP Michael Roban. Open Road has released a dozen movies since its founding in 2011, the most recent of which being Robert Rodriguez’ “Machete Kills.”
“Open Road has established itself as a pre-eminent mini-major in the U.S. distribution arena and it will be a privilege for many of our forthcoming releases to be handled by Tom Ortenberg and his team,” Ford said in a statement.
