One Direction will perform at the 2015 American Music Awards, Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced on Tuesday.
They are joining previously announced host and performer, Jennifer Lopez, as well as 5 Seconds of Summer, Selena Gomez and Carrie Underwood.
One Direction, composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, formed in 2010 after meeting on U.K. talent show, “The X Factor.” The group made its debut with “What Makes You Beautiful,” which shot straight to number one in the U.K. before becoming a big hit in the States.
Their first album, “Up All Night,” topped the Billboard album charts in the United States. The group’s fourth album, “FOUR,” made billboard history as the only group in the history of the chart to see their first four albums debut at number one.
They have sold more than 50 millions records worldwide, and have received five Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards and five American Music Awards.
Taylor Swift currently leads the nominees with six nominations. Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Sam Hunt, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor, Jason Aldean, Chris Brown, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5 and Rihanna are among the other nominees.
The 2015 American Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The winners are voted entirely by fans.
The awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions. Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan are executive producers, while Larry Klein, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco are producers.
