Olivia Munn Lost Money on ‘Ocean’s Eight’ Cameo, Says Studio Wouldn’t Pay for Met Gala Glam

Munn paid for wardrobe, hair and makeup to appear alongside Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett

Olivia Munn has a glamorous cameo in the upcoming heist film “Ocean’s Eight” —  but it cost her a pretty penny.

The “X-Men: Apocalypse” actress appears in a scene set at the annual Met Gala in New York City, alongside stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna and Sarah Paulson.

Munn went all-out for wardrobe, hair and makeup (as one would for the actual event, hosted by Anna Wintour and largely considered the biggest night in fashion), and was shocked to see the production send back invoices for the costs she incurred.

“It’s a whole scene at the Met Ball and they’re like, ‘Do your own glam.’ I got the dress, all that, and then you submit the bills for it because I’m part of your movie,” Munn told SiriusXM host Julia Cunningham on Entertainment Weekly Radio.

“But the bills come right back to you,” she concluded. “It actually cost me money to be in ‘Ocean’s Eight.’”

Reps for Warner Bros. did not immediately return TheWrap’s request for comment on the matter.
Steven Soderbergh, director on the original franchise, is producing. Susan Ekins is executive producer with Greg Silverman and Jesse Ehrman overseeing for Warner Bros.

Other Met Gala scene cameos in the film include Kim Kardashian West, Kendall Jenner, Zayn Malik, model Hailey Baldwin and Wintour herself.

“Ocean’s Eight” is part reboot, part universe extension based on the ensemble heist films that starred Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and many more.

The new “Ocean’s” also stars Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter. The film opens June 2018.
