Olivia Munn and The CW are developing a 1970s female-led drama, TheWrap has learned.
The network has put into development an untitled drama project which is set in 1974, and follows a young journalist who gets hired by an ambitious NY news programming chief as a publicity stunt to be one of the first female on-air sports reporters, and has to learn to navigate gender politics in front of and behind the camera at a time when women were literally not even allowed in the press box.
Ted Humphrey will write and executive produce. Munn will also serve as an EP, but is not expected to star in the series.
Munn was last seen on HBO’s “The Newsroom.” She is represented by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman.
