Donald Trump claimed at Monday’s presidential debate that he never said global warming is a hoax started by China. But he did.
Back in 2012, Trump tweeted that, “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.”
During the presidential debate at Hofstra University, Hillary Clinton accused Trump of thinking climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese. Trump denied it.
“Donald thinks climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese,” Clinton said. “I think it’s real.”
Trump responded, “I did not. I did not. I do not say that.”
Here is the tweet proving he is wrong.
The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

Trump also said something else that was obviously untrue at Monday’s debate, the first of three with Clinton. He claimed that she has fought ISIS for her “entire adult life.”
Clinton turned 18 in 1965. The organization that eventually named itself ISIS rose after the Iraq war — which began in 2003. (One fine source: PBS’s Frontline’s film “The Rise of Isis,” which you can watch here.) ISIS’s Wikipedia entry dates the group that preceded ISIS to 1999.
The debate was moderated by NBC’s Lester Holt.
