Nick Jonas plays one of the soldiers who took to the skies to fight for their country in Roland Emmerich’s “Midway,” and leaps into a cockpit of a plane and fires on enemy fighters in the film’s new trailer.
This is just one moment of a colorful, explosive and intense new trailer for Emmerich’s war epic, which chronicles the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and the build-up to the Battle of Midway. American soldiers faced imposing odds against a Japanese naval fleet waiting off the coast, and Emmerich’s film examines the heroics that helped shift the tide of World War II and led to America’s involvement in the war.
“We’re talking about a couple of planes against an all Japanese fleet. This isn’t a fair fight,” a soldier played by Ed Skrein says in the trailer. “If you know that people came through when people are counting on you, you’ll be able to face anything.”
“Midway” boasts a massive cast as large as its history. Jonas and Skrein star alongside Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Luke Kleintank, Darren Criss, Keean Johnson, Dennis Quaid and Woody Harrelson.
Lionsgate is releasing Emmerich’s next film this Veteran’s Day weekend on Nov. 8.
