The New York Times is losing three more high-profile staffers in one fell swoop: Hugo Lindgren, editor of New York Times Magazine; Matt Bai, the magazine’s chief political correspondent, and media reporter Brian Stelter each said they were leaving the paper on Tuesday.
Hugo Lindgren, who has edited the magazine since October 2010, will depart at the end of the year, he informed co-workers on Tuesday.
According to (of course) the New York Times, Lindgren “choked up and described the last few days as difficult” when making the announcement to his staff.
Capital New York was the first to report that Lindgren would be departing. NYT did not respond to requests for comment.

Brian Stelter is leaving to join CNN as its senior media correspondent and host of “Reliable Sources,” and Bai is joining Yahoo News as a national political columnist. Bai had been at the paper since 2002.
“Matt has an ideal voice for Yahoo News,” Megan Liberman, editor in chief of Yahoo News, said of Bai’s hire. “He has a singular ability to write about politics in a way that will connect with Yahoo News’ broad readership and bring in younger readers who aren’t always attracted to political commentary.”
Bai is Yahoo’s second Times poach in the last month. Technology columnist David Pogue announced he was leaving to launch a new consumer tech site on Oct. 21.
