NY Times Hires Jonathan Mahler as Media Reporter

Reporter has contributed to the paper’s magazine and Bloomberg View

The New York Times has hired Jonathan Mahler, a long-term contributor to its Sunday magazine and author of 2006’s “Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bronx Is Burning,” as a corporate media reporter, according to media reports.

Mahler, who also authored “The Challenge: Hamdan v. Rumsfeld and the Fight Over Presidential Power” and “Death Comes to Happy Valley: Penn State and the Tragic Legacy of Joe Paterno,” tweeted on Friday that he’s “VERY excited to be joining” the paper.

In addition to New York Times Magazine, Mahler has contributed to Bloomberg View and Deadspin.

Mahler will begin his new duties at the Times on April 23, Times media editor Peter Lattman said in a memo obtained by Capital New York. Lattman said that Mahler will “cover the industry’s biggest companies and the moguls who run them, along with the seismic changes transforming their businesses.”

The New York Times did not immediately respond to TheWrap about the matter.
