In New Memoir, Kara DioGuardi Says She Was Raped and Molested

Former “American Idol” host reveals past history of sexual abuse

In her new memoir "A Helluva High Note," former "American Idol" host Kara DioGuardi reveals she was sexually abused as a child  and date raped by a prominent music producer.

The book doesn't hit stands until April 26, but E! Online obtained an advance copy.

DioGuardi left "Idol" last year as part of the shakeup on the popular Fox show's judges table. She will appear in Bravo's new reality competition series "Platinum Hit" beginning next month.

In her memoir, DioGuardi says she was molested as an 11 year old by a male friend.

Later, after her career was beginning to take off, the reality show host and musician was raped after an evening out with a producer.

"[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand," she writes.

Yet, DioGuardi says she remained silent about the sexual assault because she was worried it would hurt her career.
