Netflix has released the first full trailer for its latest Marvel series, “The Defenders.”
The show will see the culmination of the Netflix Marvel universe, similar to how “The Avengers” was to the movie-verse.
The new show therefore follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) as they band together to save New York.
Sigourney Weaver pops up in the trailer acting sinister as the group’s main foe, the mysterious Alexandra. Her motivations are unclear but she’s definitely dead set on vanquishing the heroes.
“The more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you,” she says menacingly in the trailer.
Elodie Yung also features in the promo as the resurrected Elektra (Elodie Yung), who met a grisly death at the end of “Daredevil’s” second season.
Her return was hinted in a short teaser that Netflix released Tuesday. She’s not back to play nice, as evidenced by a scene where she sends her former lover, Daredevil, flying to a sheet of glass.
“Daredevil” season 2 show-runners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez head this event series.
Netflix debuts all episodes August 18.
