Netflix Signs Streaming Pact With Miramax for U.K. and Ireland

The deal, which covers movies including “Bad Santa” and “The Aviator,” follows similar agreements with Lionsgate and MGM

Soon, Netflix members in the United Kingdom and Ireland will be able to access everything from "Bad Santa" to "Gangs of New York" with a click of the cursor.

The red-envelope company and Miramax have signed a multi-year digital licensing agreement that will give the subscription service streaming rights to the studio's movies in the United Kingdom and Ireland, they announced early Wednesday.

The deal follows similar pacts with MGM and Lionsgate, which have helped bolster Netflix's online offerings in advance of its early 2012 across the pond launch.

As with its previous foreign expansions in Canada and Latin America, the company will not offer its DVD by mail package.

Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.

Among the Miramax titles that will be available to members of Netflix in the U.K. and Ireland are “The Aviator,”  “Finding Neverland,”  “The Hours,” “Rounders,” “Sling Blade,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” and several of the “Scary Movie,” “Scream” and “Hellraiser” films.

Miramax films are already available for streaming domestically and in Latin America.
