“Carry-On” and “Squid Game” Season 2 were Netflix’s most-watched movie and show, respectively, during the second half of 2024.
Despite only debuting on Dec. 5, “Carry-On” logged 137.3 million views during the month, and ranked as the most-watched movie on the streamer from July to December 2024. The streamer shared the metrics in its bi-annual data dump. Viewership for “Carry-On” exceeded that of “The Union,” which was the second most-watched movie during the interval with 131.1 million views, as well as “Rebel Ridge,” which took third place with 129 million views.
Viewership for “Carry-on,” “The Union” and “Rebel Ridge” well exceeded that of other movies on the streamer, with “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” coming in fourth place with 97.1 million views while “Our Little Secret,” which was released in late November, took fifth place with 81.3 million views.
On the TV side, “Squid Game” Season 2 was the most-watched TV show during the back half of 2024, despite only debuting on Dec. 26, just days before the end of the year. “Squid Game” Season 2 logged 86.5 million views, coming ahead of “The Perfect Couple,” which logged 75.1 million views, and “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” which was the third most-watched show during the interval with 69.7 million views.
“Emily in Paris” Season 4 was the fourth most-watched TV show during the interval with 57.8 million views, narrowly exceeding viewership for “Nobody Wants This” Season 1, which scored 56.8 million views, and “La Palma,” which logged 52.2 million views.
Netflix’s livestream of Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s fight, which debuted on Nov. 15, was the streamer’s No. 7 most-watched TV program, racking up 48.9 million views despite not streaming globally.
The first installment of “Black Doves” and “Cobra Kai” Season 6 were also high up in the back half of the year with 38.8 million views and 38.3 million views, respectively, while “American Murder: Laci Peterson” logged 37.4 million views and “Outer Banks” Season 4 scored 35.7 million views.
