The first teaser for Kathy Bates’ new Netflix family comedy premiered Thursday, along with an official release date.
“Disjointed,” a half-hour sitcom from the streaming service, stars Bates, who owns a Los Angeles cannabis dispensary called Ruth’s Alternative Caring after spending her life rooting for marijuana legalization. She runs the place with her three “budtenders,” her twenty-something year old son, and a troubled security guard.
The series also stars Tone Bell, Aaron Moten, Elizabeth Alderfer, Dougie Baldwin, and Elizabeth Ho.
TheWrap exclusively reported that Lily Mae Harrington would be playing a young version of Bates in the show.
Netflix calls “Disjointed” a “modern twist on the American Dream” adding that it’s a comedy about “the highs, the lows, and half-baked drama of a family-run dispensary.”
The series was created by Chuck Lorre, most famous for “The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men,” in which Bates won an Emmy for a guest role in 2012. Former “Daily Show” head writer David Javerbaum also executive produced and co-wrote the sitcom.
“Disjointed” premieres on Netfilx Friday, Aug. 25. Watch the teaser above.
