Neil Young Is a Mysterious Outlaw in Trailer for Daryl Hannah-Directed ‘Paradox’ (Video)

The trailer also features members of Young backing band The Promise of Real

For a guy who has never been afraid to take creative risks, it should come as no surprise that Neil Young is starring in a Western. In the first trailer for “Paradox,” a Netflix movie directed by Young’s girlfriend Daryl Hannah, the rocker takes on a role that would make Clint Eastwood proud.

Touted as “an unrealistic tale of music and love” and set “sometime in the future past,” the trailer sees Young, who plays the ominous Man in the Black Hat, along with Lukas and Micah Nelson (Willie Nelson’s sons), who play the Particle Kid and Jail Time, respectively, are outlaws who hide in the mountains and search for treasure, while waiting for the full moon to arrive.

Additionally, the trailer shows Young leading his band through the woods while playing an acoustic guitar. There are shots of them singing “Peace Trail” from the 2016 album of the same name, and a person levitating.

Here’s the film description from Netflix in its own words:

A fantasy, a loud poem and a free-spirited tale of music and love, PARADOX is a one-of-a-kind personal expression. Sometime in the future past, the “Man in the Black Hat” (Neil Young), the”Particle Kid” (Micah Nelson), “Jail Time” (Lukas Nelson) and a ragged band of cowboys and outlaws hide high up in the Mountains. They pass the hours searching for treasure while they wait for the full moon to lend its magic, bring the music and make the spirits fly. Vibrating with original music by Young + Promise of the Real, PARADOX furthers the legacy of an iconic performer who has always broken the rules.

And that happened in just in 77 seconds.

“Paradox” will be released on Netflix on March 23. The soundtrack to the album will be released on the same day via Warner Bros. Records.
