Neil Patrick Harris may be on his way to the “Freak Show.” The “How I Met Your Mother” alum had mentioned during an appearance on EW Radio that he had asked creator Ryan Murphy via letter to be a part of the new season of “American Horror Story.”
“I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn’t even available to be in it,” Harris admitted. “To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can’t wait!”

At that time, Harris had yet to receive a response. Now, however, the whole world knows the response. Taking to Twitter on Friday, Murphy expressed his interest in having NPH join the show.
@ActuallyNPH of course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you’d love.

Harris has yet to respond, but the fan reaction was immediate and enthusiastic, with most using all caps to express their shock, delight and hope that it will happen. “OMG CAN THIS PLEASE HAPPEN????” wrote @hally_beth, while @GleekAmber added, “DON’T YOU TEASE US NOW.”
They were also quick to point out that “Glee” star Lea Michele has been lobbying to be a part of “American Horror Story” for a few years now, too. Ryan Murphy is behind both shows as a creator and executive producer
That said, even NPH admitted that his schedule was packed. With “HIMYM” wrapped, he may have time now. And now that “Glee” has seen its final season order trimmed, perhaps Michele will have the necessary availability as well.
“American Horror Story: Freak Show” may have to add a musical theater element to accommodate all that talent. The new season of the anthology series is set to kick off in the fall.
