“Sean Saves the World” looks as if it’s in need of some saving itself.
The comedy has shut down production after shooting only 14 of the 18 episodes ordered by NBC, an individual with knowledge of the production told TheWrap.
The network will air two more episodes of the series, which could return after the Sochi Olympics, said the insider.

In November, NBC gave the comedy a vote of confidence by ordering five more episodes — bringing it the to the 18-episode total order.
The episode order arrived the day after the comedy hit its season-high ratings that Thursday. After a “Voice” lead-in, “Sean Saves the World” earned a 1.4 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. It also set a new high in total viewers with 4.6 million.
The comedy failed to hold on to those viewers, however. This season has averaged about 3 million viewers per episode.

“Sean Saves the World” is one of the lowest-rated comedies on broadcast television. But NBC has a great relationship with its star: Hayes is an executive producer on “Grimm” and “Hollywood Game Night” — not to mention his role on one of the network’s most successful shows, “Will & Grace.”
The comedy cast Hayes as a divorced gay father whose daughter (Samantha Isler) suddenly comes to live with him full-time. It stars Linda Lavin, Thomas Lennon, Megan Hilty and Echo Kellum.
Hayes executive-produced with Todd Milliner, executive producer/director James Burrows and writer/executive producer Victor Fresco. It comes from Universal Television, Hazy Mills Productions and Garfield Grove.
