Finally, a job for Betty White.
NBC has somehow lured the just-turned-89-year-old actress — who some might remember from the network's "The Golden Girls" — out of her dull, lazy life of doing nothing to host a new hidden-camera show, "Betty White's Off Their Rockers."
Hopefully this will lead to some kind of career resurgence for the poor, forgotten talent. Perhaps she could even get a hit TV Land sitcom, lots of movie roles, a SAG Lifetime Achievement Award, and a seventh Emmy, this time for hosting "Saturday Night Live."
But seriously, folks, the show sounds fun. In a new twist on the hidden-camera formula, it features senior citizens playing pranks on unsuspecting young people.
("Off Their Rockers" is a tentative title, but what else could it be called?)
"People have been telling me that I’m ‘Off My Rocker’ for years — now I can prove it," commented White, adorably.
The series of 12 half-hour episodes will be produced by Kinetic Content, the new company run by Chris Coelen ("Secret Millionaire"). The show is based on the European "Benidorm Bastards."
