Natalie Portman and Sharon Stone are among the 2016 crop of Israel Film Festival honorees.
The “Jackie” star and best actress contender will receive the Achievement in Film award from the fest, which marks its 30th year when it runs Nov. 9-23 in and around Los Angeles.
Stone will take the Film Festival Achievement Award, and Jay Sanderson of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles will receive the Community Leadership Award. New Regency honcho Arnon Milchan will serve as this year’s honorary festival chair.
“Celebrating three remarkable decades as the undisputed leader in enriching U.S. audiences with the award winning and critically praised productions of Israel’s thriving film and television industries, I am absolutely thrilled that the Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles continues to highlight the incredible forces behind Israel’s internationally recognized creative community,” said festival founder and executive director Meir Fenigstein.
Awards will be presented on Nov. 9 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
Festival screenings will take place at the Laemmle Ahrya Fine Arts Theater and the Laemmle Town Center 5. The Opening Night film, on Nov. 10th, is Emil Ben-Shimon’s “The Women’s Balcony,” a U.S. Premiere, to be held at the Steve Tisch Cinema Center in the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.
