Tom Cruise comes face to face with “The Mummy”… and then all hell breaks lose.
The first full-length trailer starts off quietly with Cruise (as a former Navy SEAL), Courtney B. Vance and Annabelle Wallis aboard a plane transporting an ancient sarcophagus. Apparently mummies are afraid of flying because the ancient wonder makes herself known in a very unpleasant way.
Jon Spaihts wrote the script, with Alex Kurtzman directing and producing alongside Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel this first film in Universal’s ambitious Classic Monster Universe.
So far, Universal’s modern-day “The Mummy” franchise includes 1999’s “The Mummy,” 2001’s “The Mummy Returns” and 2008’s “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.” The films have grossed more than $1.25 billion worldwide.
“The Mummy” is set to hit theaters June 9, 2017.
