MTV has rescinded “The Chi” actor Jason Mitchell’s nomination at the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards after he was fired from the series last week amid reports of inappropriate behavior.

“In light of recent developments, we have removed Jason Mitchell as a nominee,” an spokesperson for MTV told TheWrap.

Mitchell was nominated for Best Performance in a Show for his performance as Brandon in season two of “The Chi.” The category is now dominated entirely by female actors, as Mitchell was the only male nominated alongside Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Kiernan Shipka (“The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) and Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”).

TheWrap previously reported that Mitchell will not be a part of “The Chi” Season 3 on Showtime. Mitchell, who played Brandon Johnson on the Lena Waithe-created series, was considered the lead of the show. He was also dropped from the Netflix film “Desperados” following an investigation into an accusation about off-set behavior.

A rep for Mitchell did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

His nomination will not be replaced, and the category will continue with only four nominees. The nominations were announced May 14. See the full list of nominees here.

Variety was first to report the news.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards will air from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. on June 17 at 9/8c on MTV.
