MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough ripped President Trump and the GOP on the heels of FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.
“Obviously No. 1, Donald Trump was lying about Barack Obama… We knew it but now we got confirmation from the FBI and the Justice Department,” Scarborough said on Tuesday morning’s show. “No. 2… The FBI is investigating Donald Trump and his team.”
Scarborough then pondered aloud why American voters went into Election Day thinking that Hillary Clinton was the focus of an FBI investigation, but the investigation into the Trump campaign’s Russian ties was unknown.
Comey confirmed for the first time on Monday that his bureau is “investigating the Russian government’s attempts to interfere in the 2016 election,” and also said he has “no evidence” to support Trump’s claims that President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.
The “Morning Joe” namesake then turned his attention to House Republicans, who focused on internal leaks instead of the investigation itself.
“All most House Republicans wanted to talk about was how reporters got the information to get out to America that their president, the White House and the campaign team is under investigation for collusion,” he said. “It was one of the most shameful performances, at a time when America is at a turning point.”
Brzezinski chimed in, “Can you imagine being Hillary Clinton watching the proceedings yesterday?”
