“Moonlight” star Trevante Rhodes has joined the cast of Shane Black’s “The Predator,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Boyd Holbrook and Olivia Munn also star in the Fox reboot that was written by Fred Dekker.
Plot details remain unknown, but the new film will revolve around the similar stalker alien first seen in the 1987 film “Predator” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. It will be set in the American suburbs and Rhodes is set to play the best friend of Holbrook’s character.
Rhodes is one of the breakout stars of awards contender “Moonlight,” directed by Barry Jenkins. The film also stars Mahershala Ali, Janelle Monae, Naomie Harris, Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders and Andre Holland.
The film has six Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture, as well as three SAG Awards nominations.
Rhodes will next star in Terrence Malick’s “Song to Song,” which was just announced to open to SXSW Film Festival in March. He will also star in “Horse Soldiers” alongside Chris Hemsworth and Michael Pena.
He is represented by CAA, GSA Entertainment and ID Public Relations.
