“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland stood in solidarity with Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford on Thursday, putting her support behind Ford and sharing her own story.
In a Twitter post on Thursday, Hyland — who plays Haley Dunphy on the ABC sitcom — shared an incident from her past, under the hashtag #whyididntreport, which has recently gained prominence as women shared their reasoning for not reporting previous assaults and abuses to the authorities.
“He was a friend. It was New Year’s Eve my senior year of high school. Everyone was drunk,” Hyland’s post read.
“He broke in to the bathroom I was in. I hoped it was a dream but my ripped tights in the morning proved otherwise,” the post continued.
“I didn’t want to be called dramatic,” Hyland’s message continued. “After all I didn’t say no. Shock can do that to a person.”
The message concluded with the hashtags #believewomen, #metoo and #ibelieveher.”
In another Twitter post on Thursday, Hyland said she supported Ford and other Kavanaugh accusers.
“I believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. I believe Deborah Ramirez. I believe Julie Swetnick. There is no path forward for Judge Brett Kavanaugh. #BelieveSurvivors #TIMESUP,” Hyand wrote, punctuating the sentiment with an image of the scales of justice.
