Glen Basner's FilmNation Entertainment has promoted Milan Popelka to chief operating officer, the company announced Tuesday.
Popelka (pictured below) will report directly to Basner.
He joined the company in 2008 as exec VP of strategic planning and creative affairs.
In his new role, he will oversee all day-to-day operations at the company's offices on the east and west coasts, lead business development and strategic planning, manage the companies finances — including the structuring of individual film finances — and work with the production and development team.
He will continue his production and development role, spearheading several projects.
In a written statement, Basner said that "Milan has proven to be an invaluable asset to FilmNation — he is a strategic and proactive leader."
Before joining FilmNation, he was an executive at Samuels Media. Before that, he worked at Creative Artists Agency in the Independent Finance Group. He also was an analyst in the entertainment practice of McKinsey & Company in Los Angeles.
