Michelle Pfeiffer Joins DreamWorks’ ‘Welcome to People’

Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks and Olivia Wilde star in Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut

Michelle Pfeiffer has joined the cast of DreamWorks' drama "Welcome to People," the studio announced on Monday.

Chris Pine stars as a young man who returns home after his estranged father's sudden death, which presents complications for him. After uncovering a family secret, he's forced to reexamine his own life while trying to form new bonds with his family.

Pfeiffer will play Pine's widowed mother, while Elizabeth Banks and Olivia Wilde co-star as his alcoholic half-sister and girlfriend, respectively.

Alex Kurtzman makes his directorial debut with the project, which he also wrote with longtime collaborator Roberto Orci as well as Jody Lambert.

Production is set to start next week in Los Angeles, and the film is scheduled for release in 2012.

Pfeiffer is represented by CAA and Management 360, and her casting was first reported by Entertainment Weekly.
