Michelle Obama told Ellen Degeneres in an interview that the thing she misses most about her pre-White House life is being able to do something as simple as opening a window.
The first lady said on “Ellen” that people often forget that she and her family are unable to perform such pedestrian activities due to security concerns, and she “has not been in a car with the windows open in about seven years.”
This surprised Degeneres, who said, “But on ‘Scandal’ they go on the balcony all the time.”
Obama also talked about her daughters, Sasha and Malia, and how proud she is of them for how they have handled coming of age in the public eye. Malia is even driving now, which led Obama to caution “Look out DC.”
Ellen then asked if there is anything that President Barack Obama does that annoys her, to which the first lady responded that, after 22 years of marriage, she has learned not to sweat the small stuff.
“I kind of give him a pass now when he leaves his socks on the floor or tells that story for the 100th time,” Obama said.
