Michelle Monaghan Cast as Female Lead on Hulu’s ‘The Way’

Mike Cahill will direct first episode of Jason Katims’ production

“True Detective” alum Michelle Monaghan has landed the female lead role in Hulu Original “The Way.”

Additionally, the streaming subscription TV service has confirmed that Mike Cahill will direct the first episode of the Jason Katims-produced drama, which currently has a 10-episode order.

Monaghan will play Sarah Cleary, a high-level member of a controversial movement navigating the truths — and untruths — colliding in her life, as Hulu described.

“The Way” examines a family at the center of a controversial movement struggling with relationships, marriage and power, the streaming programmer continued. Each hour-long episode will take an in-depth look at what it means to choose between the life we live and the life we want. The series is slated to premiere this winter.

The project comes to Hulu from Universal Television and Katims’ True Jack Productions, and was created by Jessica Goldberg who will write and executive-produce the series along with Katims and Michelle Lee of True Jack Productions.
