"Real Housewives Of D.C." star and alleged White House party crasher Michaele Salahi has revealed that she has multiple sclerosis and has been living with the condition for 17 years, according to a new book.
"This is the first time I've said it publicly," Salahi said. "My own family, my cousins, a lot of the people dearest to me — my best friend just found out — it's something I kept personal."
The revelation is included in "Cirque Du Salahi: Be Careful Who You Trust," about Salahi and her husband Tareq, written by journalist Diane Diamond. Salahi discussed her condition Wednesday on Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends" morning chat show.
"I think a lot of people do with chronic illnesses or any type of disease, whether it's heart [disease] or whatever you deal with, you know, breast cancer, so for me, I kept it personal because I never wanted to be judged, never wanted to have pity, and I certainly wanted to hold on to my job," Salahi said.
"I think we are making strides in America every year but maybe this time with the White House and everything that took place, maybe all this happened for a reason and I can do something good to help someone else."
