Oh, dear; things got ugly on Michael Rapaport’s Instagram account on Wednesday.
“Atypical” star and podcaster Rapaport came under heavy fire after posting a message critiquing “Thank U, Next” singer Ariana Grande’s looks.
Rapaport drew heat after posting a photo of the singer in an apparently makeup-free moment and opining that “there’s hotter women working the counter at Starbucks.”
“Ariana Grande is 27 acts 12, you take off those boots she hides her legs in, the cat eye make up and the genie pony tale [sic] and I think there’s hotter women working the counter at Starbucks no disrespect to Starbucks,” Rapaport wrote.
While Rapaport’s post found some supporters, the comments section of the post was flooded with disapproving reactions.
“Ehhm.. first of all this is an old photo and second all she is beautiful,” wrote one critic, who added, “you just lost a follower.”
“You went too far this time,” cautioned another detractor.
“So, why is it necessary for a not so attractive 55 year old man to act like a 15 yr old jealous guy and hate on her?” asked another unsatisfied customer.
“Like Ariana is cool and this is unnecessary, imagine she wear that stuff to wear confident because she’s unhappy about how she looks,” opined another Rapaport critic. “I’m not particularly a fan of her but you went down in my opinion. I know you don’t care, but I used to love your acting but like wtf.”
“This is some misogynist s— right here,” read a particularly blunt assessment. “F–k everything about this.”
“I don’t necessarily like her. In fact I hate her. But this is uncalled for,” another voice weighed in.
“Dude? What you got against her?” another commenter asked. “Why you bashing the chick for? You gonna blame her for her boyfriend’s mental illnesses too now. You’re gonna bully her and define her by her looks too now? What are you doing fam? Come On? How old are you?!?! She’s a kid?”
A rep for Grande didn’t immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
