Michael Moore opened up about his opinion of Barack Obama, telling late night host Bill Maher that he “loved” the former president and he might be the best person to serve in office for the rest of Moore’s life.
“I love President Obama; we may not have a better president in my lifetime,” Moore said Friday while stopping by “Real Time With Bill Maher” to promote his new documentary “Fahrenheit 11/9.” Moore said that while he was a committed Democrat who supported both Bernie Sanders and later Hillary Clinton, he was not afraid to be tough on everyone for their actions while in office.
“I think it’s great I do this to. You go after the Democrats. That’s what friends do. They’re honest with their friends. Cowards don’t,” said Maher, lauding the filmmaker. “You are very brave in this. You say very unflattering things about Clinton and Obama and Hillary.”
Moore talked at length about what he said was President Obama’s failure to properly handle the crisis in Flint, including a “stunt” where the president supposedly drank uncontaminated water from the city.
“He said it wasn’t a stunt — and it was — and it just put a knife in the heart of so many people in Flint who were hoping he could come and bring the Army Corps. of Engineers, dig up these poison pipes and replace the pipes in the city,” said Moore. “He didn’t do that.”
