Michael Luisi has been fired as president of WWE Studios, TheWrap has confirmed.
Moving forward, Luisi’s now-former group will report to WWE co-president Michelle Wilson, we’re told by a person with knowledge of the situation in Stamford, Connecticut. Tim Schmidt, vice president Business Affairs & Operations, will serve as the interim lead for the studio.
WWE will start a search for the new full-time head of WWE Studios, who will ultimately report to Wilson.
Luisi claimed the top post at WWE Studios in 2010. He was previously at New Line, Miramax and The Weinstein Company.
WWE Studios is the production company behind “Fighting With My Family,” the “Marine” franchise and a number of animated movies, among other projects.
Deadline first reported the news of Luisi’s exit.
