“The Shield” actor Michael Jace has been charged with his wife’s murder, police said.
April Jace, 40, was found dead at around 8:30 p.m. in the couple’s home after police responded to a report of shots fired.
“At this moment the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence,” police said in a statement.
Michael Jace, 51, was booked on a charge of 187 (a) PC-Murder at 77th Area Jail. Bail was set at $1 million.
The actor, best known for his work as an LAPD officer on the drama “The Shield,” called that same department and admitted to shooting his wife Monday, TMZ reported. Officer Wendy Reyes, who told TheWrap that Jace has been charged with murder, could not confirm other details.
TMZ also reported that the couple’s two young children were present and witnessed the shooting. April Jace, 40, was shot several times in the torso.
Jace has spent much of his career acting in cop shows. He got his start on a 1992 episode of “Law and Order” and then appeared in a 1994 episode of “LA Law.”
