Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM are co-financing the upcoming "21 Jump Street," the studios announced Wednesday.
Under the deal, Sony will handle marketing and distribution and MGM will have responsibility for select international television licensing. On Tuesday, the studios announced a similar partnership with the movie "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."
The studios have a formal agreement to look at co-financing opportunities and have worked together on "Casino Royale," "Quantum of Solace," "21," "Yours, Mine and Ours," "The Pink Panther" and this summer's comedy "Zookeeper."
"21 Jump Street" is based on the old Fox series starring Johnny Depp about young police officers who work undercover in high schools and colleges.
