Meghan Markle has revealed she and Prince Harry went to a Halloween party in the early days of their relationship, before the world had been introduced to their romance, and the couple managed to keep their high-profile identities secret during the shindig.
How did they do this? Well, the party’s post-apocalyptic theme was definitely a contributing factor, the Duchess of Sussex told Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday’s “Ellen” episode.
“He came to see me in Toronto, and our friends, and his cousin Eugenie and now her husband, Jack, they came. The four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple,” she recalled.
So, seriously, no one noticed that Prince Harry was out and about in Toronto enjoying Halloween?
“No. It was a post-apocalypse theme so we had all of this very bizarre costuming on and we were able to just sort of have one final fun night out,” Markle told DeGeneres with a laugh.
Halloween 2021 was a much less eventful one for Meghan and Harry, who are now parents to 2-year-old Archie and baby Lilibet. Markle recalled for the “Ellen” audience and viewers — because DeGeneres had actually been there with her family on Oct. 31 — that she and Harry chose to stay in that night, when they dressed Archie up as a dinosaur and Lilibet as a skunk.
Readers can watch this portion of Markle’s “Ellen” interview above and another sneak peek, where she talks about how her children’s book “The Bench” began as a poem for Prince Harry, below.
The Duchess of Sussex’s full interview with DeGeneres airs Thursday.
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” revealed Wednesday that Markle would be a guest this week, marking both her first talk-show appearance this decade and the first time she’s had a sit-down interview on a daytime talker since she and her husband exited the British royal family last year.
More to come…
