Megan Ellison‘s Annapurna Pictures has come on to produce Richard Linklater‘s collegiate comedy “That’s What I’m Talking About,” a spiritual sequel to the director’s cult classic “Dazed and Confused” that will be released in North America by Paramount, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
A representative for Paramount did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Set in 1980, the film stars Blake Jenner as a freshman student who, like the protagonist in “Dazed and Confused,” is a pitcher on the hard-partying baseball team.
The youthful ensemble Tyler Hoechlin (“Teen Wolf”), Wyatt Russell (“22 Jump Street”), Ryan Guzman (“The Boy Next Door”), Will Brittain (“A Teacher”), Glen Powell (“The Expendables 3”) and Zoey Deutch (“Vampire Academy”).

“That’s What I’m Talking About” serves as Linklater’s follow-up to his critically acclaimed indie “Boyhood,” which the director shot over 12 years with cast members Ellar Coltrane, Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette.
Ellison will produce with Sean Daniel (“Dazed and Confused”), John Sloss, Ginger Sledge, Linklater and his longtime editor Sandra Adair. Annapurna International will handle foreign sales.
