Matthew Perry to Play Ted Kennedy in ‘The Kennedys: After Camelot’

“Friends” alum joins Katie Holmes, who is reprising her role as Jackie Kennedy

Matthew Perry has been cast as Ted Kennedy in ReelzChannel’s “The Kennedys” sequel series “The Kennedys: After Camelot,” the network announced Tuesday.

Katie Holmes is reprising her role as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, which she originated on the channel’s original miniseries “The Kennedys.”

The four-part “The Kennedys: After Camelot” will follow the story of Jackie and the family after the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy.

Also coming back are the production team of Muse Entertainment, director Jon Cassar and writer Stephen Kronish. Holmes will direct an episode of the follow-up miniseries, and serve as an executive producer alongside Intuition Productions owner Keri Selig. Cassar will direct the other three installments.

“We are privileged to have an actor of Matthew Perry‘s stature and ability take on the role of such a complex and controversial figure as Ted Kennedy,” executive producer Michael Prupas, president of Muse Entertainment, said.

Perry is currently on stage in London starring in “The End of Longing.” He will return for Season 2 of CBS’ “The Odd Couple” reboot, which premieres April 7.
