‘Masters of Sex’ Star Caitlin Fitzgerald Teases Her Character’s Season 3 Shift (Video)

“Of all the characters, I think Libby’s had the biggest transformation and I would say her transformation continues to happen,” Fitzgerald tells TheWrap

Actress Caitlin Fitzgerald promised her character Libby Masters would continue to undergo a major transformation in the third season of “Masters of Sex.”

Without giving away too much of a spoiler, Fitzgerald told TheWrap, “Of all the characters, I think Libby’s had the biggest transformation and I would say her transformation continues to happen in this season.”

During the series’ sophomore season, Libby seemed to become more comfortable with sharing her husband Dr. William Masters (Michael Sheen) with his research assistant Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan). She’s portrayed as racist and cruel toward her maid Coral (Keke Palmer), but changes her tune when she meets and finds herself attracted to Coral’s brother Robert.

In the finale for season two, we last saw Libby tell Robert that she does not feel guilty about their affair because her husband cheated, perhaps this “transformation” involves distancing herself from the doctor.

Fitzgerald also said she does all of her own “stunt work” and has to warn her small-town family not to watch certain episodes. The actress admitted she sometimes forgets to inform the entire family and recalled a time when her grandfather hadn’t been told.

Fitzgerald joked that her loved ones call the show “M.O.S.” instead of “Masters of Sex.”

The third season of “Masters of Sex” premieres July 12 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
