“American Idol” was the No. 1 show Sunday in the key 18-49 demographic, but the evening’s total-viewer victor was CBS — and by a pretty large margin. The so-called Tiffany Network can thank an exciting late-afternoon Masters golf tournament charge for delivering big boosts to its primetime shows “60 Minutes” and “Instinct.”

ABC topped the leaderboard in ratings with a 1.1 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 5.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. Following a rerun, a two-hour “Idol” at 8 p.m. earned a 1.5/6 and 7.2 million viewers. At 10, “Deception” had a 0.7/3 and 3.7 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 1.0/4 and first in viewers with 8.3 million. At 7, “60 Minutes” posted a 1.5/7 and 10.8 million viewers. At 8, “Instinct” got a 0.9/3 and 8.2 million viewers. “NCIS: Los Angeles” at 9 received a 0.9/3 and 8.1 million viewers. At 10, “Madam Secretary” managed a 0.6/2 and 6.2 million viewers.

NBC and Fox tied third in ratings, both with a 0.7/3. NBC was third in total viewers with 4.5 million, Fox was fourth with 1.7 million.

For NBC, “Dateline NBC” at 7 had a 0.6/3 and 4.3 million viewers. At 8, “Little Big Shots” got a 0.9/4 and 6.7 million viewers. “Genius Junior” at 9 received a 0.7/3 and 4.5 million viewers. At 10, “Timeless” closed prime to a 0.6/2 and 2.5 million viewers.

For Fox, following a repeat, “Bob’s Burgers” at 7:30 had a 0.8/3 and 1.7 million viewers. At 8, “The Simpsons” got a 0.9/4 and 2.1 million viewers. At 8:30, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” received a 0.8/3 and 1.7 million viewers. “Family Guy” at 9 landed a 0.9/3 and 2 million viewers. At 9:30, “The Last Man on Earth” finished Fox’s primetime a 0.7/2 and 1.5 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.7 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.4/2 and in viewers with 759,000 viewers.

The CW does not currently nationally program Sunday nights.
