ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has called in the cavalry.
No doubt in preparation for the battle for younger viewers against “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” — which debuts Monday — The Walt Disney Company will premiere the first trailer for the much-anticipated Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” feature film on Tuesday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at 11:35/10:35c.
Star Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the film, will be on-hand to introduce the trailer, which will be available to viewers on the official “Jimmy Kimmel Live” YouTube channel for 24 hours after the airing.
“Guardians of the Galaxy,” which premieres on August 1, will be the 10th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First appearing in Issue No. 18 of the comic book Marvel Super-Heroes, “Guardians of the Galaxy” follows Peter Quill as he forms an uneasy alliance with a group of misfits who are on the run after stealing a coveted orb.

Pratt co-stars in the film with Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Benicio Del Toro.
James Gunn will direct the film from his screenplay based on a story he developed with Nicole Perlman. Kevin Feige will produce with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.
It remains to be seen how this announcement will affect the ratings for “Fallon” and “Kimmel” shows on Tuesday night.
