Marvel is entering the world of animation.
The company will team up with its corporate sibling, Walt Disney Animation Studios, on "Big Hero 6," which will follow boy and his robot who enlist with a team of crime fighters.
Disney animators will create the film, but it is inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name.
The film is set in a mythical city that is a mash-up of Tokyo and San Francisco. Disney released footage of the world its animators are currently creating with help from the Marvel team.
"Big Hero 6" will square off against Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" when it opens on Nov. 7, 2014.
In addition, Disney announced that "Planes" will be released in 3D.
The film is spin-off of the studio's "Cars" film franchise and was originally intended to be a direct-to-video release. Those plans were quickly scrapped, and instead it will get the full theatrical roll-out on Aug. 9, 2013.
For the Record: An earlier version of this article implied incorrectly that "Big Hero 6" is a Marvel release. It will be created and released by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
