Marketing Chief Rick Haskins to Depart the CW

The network’s chief of marketing will leave a few months after his contract expires

Rick Haskins, the CW's chief of marketing, is leaving the network soon after his contract expires, TheWrap has confirmed.

Haskins, executive VP of digital, new technologies, marketing and brand strategy, will remain at the CW until August (his contract expires in May), seeing it through the network's transition from outgoing entertainment president Dawn Ostroff to, it is believed, will be her successor, Mark Pedowitz.

Pedowitz is still in negotiations with the CW.

Haskins started at the CW in 2006, when then UPN president Dawn Ostroff hired him onto the newly created network she was about to head.

This past January, Ostroff made clear she plans to leave the network.

Before he joined the CW in 2006, he was exec VP and general manager at Lifetime Television, where Ostroff was executive VP and head of development.

From 1996 to 1999, when he joined Lifetime, Haskins ran The Haskins Group, a consulting firm. Before that, he worked at the Walt Disney Company, where he was VP, marketing at Buena Vista Television and director of development, reality programming at Buena Vista Television. While there, he helped market "Regis and Kathy Lee," "Golden Girls," "Home Improvement" and others.

Deadline first reported the news.
