The rivalry continues for Mark Wahlberg and Sean “Diddy” Combs as they go double or nothing for the highly-hyped fight between boxing star Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC champion “The Notorious” Conor McGregor.
The bet follows a similar one that the actor and rapper made ahead of the Mayweather’s bout with Manny Pacquiao in May 2015, according to a new promo video from Showtime at least.
The network also announced Tuesday that Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this Saturday night before the powerhouses face off.
In the previous bet, Combs won $250,000 by picking Mayweather, and now Wahlberg is tapping his Boston-Irish roots by backing McGregor to take down the favorite.
Just like their icons, Wahlberg and Combs did plenty of trash-talking ahead of the big fight.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Wahlberg asked. “I’ve been waiting for this a long time,” Combs replied.
“You know we’re not gonna dance in there, right?” Wahlberg then jested. To which Combs shot back “We’re not gonna act in there, you know that?”
Combs then amped it up, asking Wahlberg where his money is from their previous wager. “I gave that to charity,” Wahlberg said. “We can go double or nothing now.” Doubling their previous bet brings the grand total to $500,000 (which we know Wahlberg can afford, as he’s now the highest paid actor in Hollywood).
“Mayweather vs McGregor” goes down Saturday, Aug. 26 on Showtime Pay Per View at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT.
