Jon Stewart was startled on Thursday when “Daily Show” guest Mark Ruffalo burst on the set early to get something off his chest.
“I want to stop the pretense tonight. I know for a fact you didn’t watch my movie,” the “Infinitely Polar Bear” star said. “I know you haven’t see the movie. I’m just an addition to the parade of false pleasantries you foist upon your unsuspecting audience members.”
The complaint was a set up for a montage of the Comedy Central host winging it with guests, and asking them things like,”What is the character’s name?” or “What are all the plot lines?”
And when Stewart did do his homework, the segment highlighted a string of snarky comments, like calling one project “a recipe for sadness” and saying of another, “This would not get me though one bowel movement.”
“Jon, just wait until you make a movie and people lie to you about seeing it,” Ruffalo said.
“I did make a movie,” the “Rosewater” director responded.
“Oh yeah,” Ruffalo said. “That was great.”
