Veteran film producer and executive Matt Jackson has been named head of film production and acquisitions at The Mark Gordon Company, where he’ll be charged with overseeing film operations, including managing day-to-day development and production on projects and identifying feature content for acquisition, it was announced Monday by CEO Mark Gordon, to whom Jackson will report.
Jackson most recently led development and production at IM Global as the company’s president of production.
“Matt is a terrifically talented producer with great creative instincts and excellent taste. He knows how to put movies together and is an advocate for unique creative voices and captivating original stories. We look forward to building a robust film slate together,” said Gordon.

At IM Global, Jackson produced “Secret in Their Eyes” starring Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman and Chiwetel Ejiofor and “The Journey” starring Timothy Spall, Freddie Highmore and John Hurt. He also executive produced Gary Ross‘ upcoming STX release “Free State of Jones,” starring Matthew McConaughey; Eran Creevy‘s action-thriller “Collide” starring Nicholas Hoult and Anthony Hopkins; the horror-thriller “Viral” and the Sundance drama “Southside With You,” which follows a young Barack Obama.
Prior to IM Global, Jackson served as the executive VP and head of U.S. production at Exclusive Media and produced an adaptation of Gillian Flynn‘s novel “Dark Places” starring Charlize Theron, as well as Peter Landesman‘s JFK picture “Parkland.” He also produced the critically acclaimed thriller “End of Watch” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena and “Snitch” starring Dwayne Johnson and Susan Sarandon.
Before joining Exclusive Media, Jackson served as senior VP of production at the Kennedy/Marshall Company for three years. He has also held executive production and development positions at Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures. Jackson is a graduate of Morehouse College and has been a member of the PGA since 2013.
The Mark Gordon Company, which partnered with eOne in 2015 to create an independent film and television studio, is helmed by Mark Gordon, who has produced more than 100 motion picture and television projects. Its upcoming releases include Todd Phillips‘ “War Dogs” starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller; Kenneth Branagh‘s “Murder on the Orient Express”; the war drama “Sand Castle” starring Nicholas Hoult and Henry Cavill; and Lasse Hallstrom‘s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.”
The company is currently in production on several established TV series, including “Ray Donovan” (Showtime), “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC) and “Criminal Minds” (CBS)
