Mandy Patinkin has been cast as the boss and mentor of Claire Danes' character on Showtime's drama pilot "Homeland," shooting next month.
The series will be Patinkin's first return to televison since his role on CBS' "Criminal Minds."
"The Princess Bride" star will play “Saul,” a veteran CIA division chief. The actor and singer, who won an Emmy for his performance on "Chicago Hope," also starred in the previous Showtime series "Dead Like Me."
"Homeland," a production of Fox 21, is loosely based on Gideon Raff’s Israeli television series “Prisoners of War.”
